VISTA members commit to serve full-time for a year at a nonprofit organization or local government agency, working to fight illiteracy, improve health services, create businesses and strengthen community groups. With passion, commitment and hard work, we can create or expand programs designed to bring individuals and our community out of poverty.

Positions Currently Open at the Youth Conservation Corps:



FUNDRAISER VISTA - Solicit contributions from corporations and individuals, create fundraising activities, organize volunteers and monitor progression. Duties will include, but not limited to, writing speeches and press releases, lead coordination of fundraising, mass mailing campaigns and the ability to network and raise awareness of charity work, aims and goals. Must be organized and possess strong interpersonal communication abilities.
 



IT VISTA - Maintain the day-to-day operations of mainframes and PCs as well as maintenance on equipment to network support, user support and database maintenance. VISTA may also aid in program curriculum by instructing computer-based work to at-risk youth. Knowledge of web development, programming or systems analysis is essential.
 



FINANCIAL ASSISTANT - Work directly with Finance Manager, assisting in payroll, accounts payable and receivable and manage office supplies. Provide necessary support to assist the Executive Director of YCC in completion of his designated functions. Assist the organization and the Board of Directors. Duties include bookkeeping, office inventory control and auditing. Must be organized, enthusiastic and work well with diverse staff and at-risk youth.
 



COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR VISTA - Promote and advocate programs, establish volunteer resources, manage and execute annual service projects. Additional duties include direct work with Executive Director, fundraising help and development of promotional material, in addition to maintaining all program and media information. Must be organized, use leadership ability and work well in diverse populations.
 



Youth Conservation Corps is a nonprofit organization that provides GED classes, life and job skills training, and various certifications to youth ages 16-24 years old. The youth participate in a ten-month program that not only focuses on improving the individual lives and future of youth, but also on instilling a drive to improve the local community through service projects. Youth Conservation Corps works closely with AmeriCorps, YouthBuild USA, the Corporation for National and Community Service, along with several government, corporate and independent donors to make the program possible year after year.
